Abstract

North Carolina with its status as one of the original thirteen colonies,
not to mention its role in secession and the Civil War, possesses a
fascinating history. With its three distinctive geographic and climactic
regions, the state has even been marketed as the “Variety Vacation
Land.” Why then do social studies students complain so bitterly
about the dullness of its history?
